Help get my friend into a good home!
Hello, everyone! My name is Honey, and I'm starting a gofundme to get my transgender nonbinary friend, Matt, out of their abusive household.
Matt will be turning 18 next February, and he desperately needs out of his house and away from his racist, transphobic, ablest family. His mother is the world's biggest narcissist who refuses to get him any sort of help for anything (he has Dissociative Identity Disorder, and she still refuses to take him to a therapist or get him any sort of medication, she barely keeps food in the house, he's found a lump on his jaw months ago, and she still hasn't taken him to the doctor, etc), and his sister is extremely violent towards him and his pet toads, she's slammed against the toad tank in anger, chased him with knives several times, repeatedly told him to kill himself and that she was going to kill him, I've personally called the police from one incident with him being chased with a knife, and his mother simply swept it under the rug and HE got in trouble. He's in serious danger in that house, and the moment he's legally able to, we need to get him out of there and in with me.
I have the means to house Matt, thank goodness. My grandmother got married and moved abroad, and will be gifting her house to me before he will have the opportunity to leave in one year's time. It's a humble little 2 bedroom, but more than enough for myself and my friend to live in comfortably. The bills are relatively small, enough that I can afford on my current job, and manage a small increase on when taking someone new who will have to spend possibly a few months looking for work to share the bills.
The main issue comes with getting him into my area. He lives in Texas, while I live in Michigan. Obviously, that's a big distance, so we need to get him into my area. But we need to start this fund early, because his mother is planning to get custody of him as an adult as soon as possible, so we will only have a very short window to get him out and heading my way!
I know 500 dollars is an awful lot to ask, but it will do so much good in getting Matt out of his situation! Here's the approximate breakdown of how it will be spent:
~$100 for a ride to the airport in his area with a tip
~$300 for his plane ride and a checked bag (his toads should be allowed in his carry-on)
~$100 for replacing any and all documents that he can't manage to bring with him, his birth certificate, his SS card, etc.
We can pick Matt up from the airport here, but anything extra will go towards getting him nicer things once he's here, a phone not attached to his family's plan, food in my house for him, new clothes, etc.
I understand times are tough, so please, if you can't donate to this, then just help to spread the word, share it with friends and help people see and be able to help my friend!
