Help get Misty urgent treatment to save her life

I’m Caity, I am Misty’s human, and I have started this gofundme to help pay for veterinary investigations with a specialist in the hopes of diagnosing her worsening respiratory problems and chronic cough, and getting her the treatment she needs before she deteriorates beyond help.

Misty developed a cough last year, which was initially diagnosed as feline asthma, and so for months we were attempting to treat her with oral steroids and inhalers. We tried a number of different types of medicine, but nothing alleviated her symptoms. Her coughing has become worse and her breathing more laboured. Recently, she had an x-ray, blood tests, and faecal matter tests at the vets so they could look at her lungs and try to diagnose the problem. Despite all these tests, the vets so far have been unable to diagnose the cause of Misty’s illness, and recommend that she be referred to a specialist. The urgency of the need for this referral became apparent after I brought her back in for a check-up 2 weeks after her x-ray, and she had dropped significant weight in those 2 weeks.

Those of you who know me personally know how much I love and adore my cats and being in this situation is utterly devastating. Misty is young, she is only 6 and she is strong. She is cuddly, sassy, kooky and she is stunning, and I am desperate to do anything possible to understand what is causing her to be unwell and give her a chance to receive treatment and recover.

My parents and I between us have already spent over 1.5k on x-rays, blood tests, poop tests, appointments and medication. My flatmate (Misty’s spare human) and I are primed to drop another 1.3k for further investigations, but the need for urgent intervention is expensive and sudden. I already work 6 days a week and simply cannot get the money together quickly enough, and it seems as though time is not on our side in this situation.

Please, please, please donate anything you can, every single donation gets us closer to understanding what is happening to her and helping her get better.

If you can forgo a coffee or a pint, bring a sarnie to work instead of getting a meal deal, or skip your weekly takeaway and donate the money to this fundraiser instead, it would make a huge difference in what veterinary care she can receive and how quickly she can receive it.

I will keep this page updated with her progress. We have an initial consultation on Tuesday 14th March where we will be given more information.

She is part of the family, she is my companion, and I love her dearly.
