Help Get Mike Home from Mazatlan Hospital
Donation protected

Dearly loved father and husband, Mike Dunn, has suffered a severe head injury while vacationing in Mazatlan, Mexico.
Our fundraiser is to help us get him back to Canada as soon as possible so he can be treated in a hospital close to his family under our medicare system. A medical evacuation from his current location in Mexico can cost anywhere between $50, 000 CAD to $60, 000 CAD. While he is stable during my writing this, he is still under critical care awaiting his surgery on the 16th of February.
Due to the language barrier, we have had a difficult time receiving updates and details from the hospital he's currently at. This has also made it impossible to get emergency passports to go down and visit him. What we do know is that he has had a pinched or cut artery in his brain and that there was some brain bleeding initially. He has been put on medication to help with the brain swelling, and the surgery should hopefully start him on the road to recovery so we can get him on a plane and back to us.
Mike does not have traveller's medical insurance, so the surgery has been paid for out of our pockets. While family and friends are pooling together the best we can to get him back in Alberta, the medical evac fee is overwhelming for us. We are looking for any help possible, whether through donation or the sharing of this page -- we wouldn't have started the fundraiser if we were not in dire need of financial aid during this emergency.
Thank you to everyone for reading, please share if you are able, and keep Mike and his family in your thoughts. Much love. <3
In the event of us finding ourselves with extra funding, the remaining proceeds will be going to charity.
