I’ve qualified for this year’s CrossFit Adaptive Games in San Jose California and I’d really appreciate your help to get there! An adaptive athlete starting out competitively after 40, just getting to this stage feels a bit surreal and if you’d told me a couple of years ago that I’d be gearing up for a global fitness showdown again, I’d probably have laughed (and then needed a sit down). However, thanks to the Crossfit Direwolf coaches who continually find creative ways to help me work around every obstacle (never underestimate the power of tape and stubbornness). I also have to thank the support of those around me who show up every week and train alongside me, push me, shout at and cheer me every week. I might not look or sound it in the thick of it, but I am immensely grateful. The finals in California aren’t just a personal milestone; I’m hoping they’ll be a chance to show my kids and anyone what’s possible if you keep showing up, even when the odds look a bit bonkers.
So, and here’s the shameless bit, a plea for contributions towards travel, accommodation, registration, or insurance. I’d be forever grateful and it’ll all go towards making the most of this incredible opportunity, represent CrossFit Direwolf and show what adaptive athletes are capable of on the biggest stage there is in Crossfit.
