My name is SJ Lee. I am the proud first born daughter to two hardworking immigrants. They were the one who taught me how to work hard and encouraged my success in school. I love school and being at university was the happiest I’d ever been. I have never been so understood by a group of people before. I’ve learned just as much about the world outside the classroom through my friends as I have inside the classroom from my teachers. I have been counting down the days until I return to university and I can be free again. But there’s a problem, the reason why I’m making this go fund me page at all.

I signed my mother as a guarantor for my uni house next year, a terrace house just a little ways off campus. During the summer, my mother was supposed to save up at least £400 and I had planned to chip in all my savings to make up the rest. As I’m writing this, I have only just found out that she’s forgotten to do so and she’s instructed me to go to my father and more or less beg him to cover it in her place. I also paid for a replacement for my glasses which my brother broke (which my mother said she’d repay) so my £316 I had saved has dwindled to £186.50. I have called in as many favours as I can, I have applied to over 70 jobs with no reply but it isn’t enough. I am tired of burdening my parents with my expenses and being disappointed when they fail to deliver. Whatever you can contribute to this page will help a university student afford her accommodation so she can continue to make her parents proud and not starve.
