Hi there, my name is Victoria, fundraising for my brother Marc.
We’re Marc’s small but hopeful family— theres me, Mum (Gillian) Dad (Richard) cousin Emma and Auntie Gaynor —reaching out with heavy hearts. Some of you might know me and my family, be aware of Marcs struggles and have already been an immeasurable emotional support in the past. For that I already thank you. Marc is a funny, kind, and thoughtful person. We miss him every day. But he’s been battling a dependancy on drugs for the past 18 years, and despite his wish and past attempts to stop, he’s now lost almost everything—his friends, job, health, and mental stability.
His physical health is failing, and his depression and anxiety have left him unable to function and of late not wanting to be here anymore. He is unable to get on in society like you and I anymore, stuck in a cycle that he can’t get himself out of without proper help.
The thought that Marc could finally be ready for help—but lacks the financial means for a medically supervised and assisted rehab program—is devastating. A program like this facilitated by a professional rehab is his only real hope for recovery as there is no way he could do it on his own. Our humble lives do not have the means to cover the funds for these types of rehabs and feel reaching out might be our only chance of saving him.
Its hard to describe what we've been going through and how torn apart we feel as a family, we try and do everything we can for Marc but the physical symptoms he goes through and the difficult emotions that come up force him to push us away, hide and sometimes ignore us until he really needs our help and is barely surviving. We try as best we can but then the cycle starts again.
We always hold to the hope that he will be brave and ready to face the challenge of detox from years and years of dependency . We want to be ready and able to pay for him to get the support he needs through rehab programmes with structured after care and mental health support on offer. This is why we are reaching out for help in any way we can to raise funds to pay for his recovery and to give him the best chance possible. Every donation no matter how small will go directly to his rehab recovery.
Thank you so much for listening.
