Help Get Madi Moving – A Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
This is Madison—though she is also known as Madi, Madigirl, or Mads Moo! I’m Renee, one of Madi’s support workers who gets to spend time with this incredible young woman, and I’ve created this GoFundMe to help her get out and about in the community, with the right support and the right equipment.
Madi was diagnosed at just 9 months old with a very rare Chromosomal Deletion Syndrome—one of only 13 known cases in the world. She also lives with epilepsy and other complex medical needs. While she is unable to walk, talk, or stand on her own and relies on a wheelchair, nothing dims her radiant smile or contagious laughter.
Despite the challenges, Madi’s family, friends, and support team have always gone above and beyond to give her an extraordinary life. She’s been ice skating, bounced on castles, joined dance parties, gone on fun runs, and, like many kids, loved trampoline time. Every experience means the world to her and to those who love her.
Recently, Madi moved into a beautiful Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home, where she receives 24/7 care. While this has been an incredible step forward, transportation remains a big challenge. Public transport is simply too overwhelming for her, and we've had ongoing issues with taxis—including times when drivers have left her outside without ensuring someone was there to greet her.
That’s why we need your help.
The funds raised will go into a bank account specifically set up for Madi’s needs. I, Renee, am organising this fundraiser as one of Madi’s trusted support workers, and I am working closely with her family and care team. The money raised will be used to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle—ideally a Hyundai Staria or something similar, new or used—that Madi can use daily. This vehicle would make a world of difference. It would allow Madi to:
- Travel safely and comfortably to appointments and activities
- Take day trips and short getaways with her family and support team
- Participate more easily in community events
- Leave whenever she’s tired without waiting 30–45 minutes for a ride
We’ve also added Madi’s mother, Fortunata (Natalie), as the beneficiary to this fundraiser to receive the bank transfers directly. Natalie and many others work together to support Madi as part of her dedicated care team. This ensures full transparency and guarantees that the funds will go directly toward improving Madi’s quality of life.
Every dollar makes a difference. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your support means the world. Even kind messages of encouragement will help lift Madi’s spirits and remind her just how loved she is.
Thank you so much for helping us give Madi the freedom and dignity she deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Madi’s Support Team
