Help Get Luna Back on Her Paws — Double ACL Surgery
Donation protected
My beloved baby girl Luna just turned 7. I bottle-fed her as a tiny pup, and ever since she has been my adventure buddy, best friend, and brightest light through some of the darkest moments. Sadly, she has torn both of her ACLs, meaning the bottom half of her legs are not supported or connected at the knee worsening the damage every day. It's become increasingly painful and difficult for her to move around even with the support of a brace. We are providing pain meds and often carrying her outside to take care of business... she is an 84lb. shepherd mix. Despite this, she fails to realize she is broken and still so full of life, love, and stubbornness—eyes bright, tail wagging, and never-ending kisses. She always makes everyone she meets fall in love with her.
This is a common injury for larger, active dogs like Luna, and thankfully there is a routine but expensive surgery that can restore her quality of life. But it comes at a high cost. I am humbly, honestly, and desperately asking for help.
The recovery will take about 6 months, and Luna will need constant support. We're hoping to raise $10,000 to cover:
- ACL surgery on both knees
- Medications and vet follow-ups
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy
- Occasional pet sitters during recovery
- Lost income from taking time off work to care for Luna
- Emergency buffer for complications or additional care
From a place of pure vulnerability, this past year has been incredibly difficult. Less than a year ago, Luna had to undergo surgery after she was attacked by another dog during our evening walk. And for the past four months, my dad has been in and out of the hospital with a terminal illness. I've been struggling to balance work, school, caregiving, and emotional survival—but now, what I really need is help to make sure Luna gets the chance to run, play in the snow, and just be a dog again.
Every share and donation—no matter how small—brings us closer to getting Luna back on her paws. Even if we do not reach our goal; all proceeds will go directly to her surgery and care first and foremost. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every bit of support means more than I can express.
With love and gratitude,
❤️ Luna's humans
