Help get Kat a perfect dog walking wheelchair
Donation protected
We are three pals (Gav, Foxy & Kieron) from Edinburgh. We've set up this gofundme page to help our dear friend Kathleen Henderson. On the 6th July 2019 Kat had a mountain bike accident which left her paralysed from the waist down for life. Before her accident Kat was an extremely sporty & adventurous transplant theatre nurse, working at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. She loved her job & active outdoor lifestyle so adapting to her new circumstances has been a long, hard and painful road.
Kat has had to find new ways to do the things she loves. It's taken a lot of determination and drive to re-learn how to ride a horse, quad bike and adaptive mountain bike on the trails. While it isn’t the same feeling of freedom she had before the accident, seeing how happy Kat is doing these activities is something truly special.
With your help, we'd like to get Kat a lightweight wheelchair with an electric wheel attachment. The perfect equipment for taking her beloved Spaniel Boost on walks in the borders. Everything is expensive in the adaptive world so your help is so important. Gav, Foxy & Kieron are going to lead a series of difficult challenges for 3 months to raise money in a way that will bring a smile to Kat’s face. For each event, she will either be present or help us train for them!
EVENT 1: Gav and Foxy (supported by Kieron) are taking on the legendary 24hr Strathpuffer mountain bike race on the 11th January in the Scottish Highlands (see link below). It will be freezing, muddy and include 17 hours of dark riding. As miserable as the event will be, it can't compare to the challenges Kat faces every single day. We'll be thinking of her throughout and how she continues to inspire us with her courage and energy.
Note: If donating please make sure you set the optional gofundme tip to zero!
Thanks so much for reading and please keep checking in for funny hardship event updates & social media links.
