Help Get Kambrie a New Car
TW: Discussions and Photos of Car Accident
Kambrie Jo White, a 17-year-old high school junior, was celebrating her victory of reaching Top 102 at the 2021 National Speech and Debate tournament on the night of June 16th. After celebrating with her friends and teammates, Kambrie was driving home after dropping off others at their homes. During her drive home, Kambrie was hit by a drunk driver - causing abrasions on her chest, neck, and arms, as well as a bruised lung, tinnitus, and 25% percent hearing loss in her right ear that may or may not come back. Along with these injuries, Kambrie's car, lovingly named Wilma (pictured above), was totalled - but luckily, saved her life. Kambrie saved up for this car and bought it with her own money.
Unfortunately, Kambrie received minimal insurance money to replace her car. When looking into buying a car in Denver, the money that was received was stolen. Kambrie was forced to quit her job after the accident due to sustained injuries. Kambrie is in a financial situation where she must purchase a new car herself.
When Kambrie was rushed to the hospital that night, the drunk driver who hit her was there when they left the hospital at 4am. By 9am the next morning, he walked free on bail.
Kambrie is an outstanding participant in debate and choir, an incredible friend, and all around, a wonderful human being. Kambrie has always been a shoulder to lean on for all those around her. She is an incredibly smart, talented, driven, hard-working, and loving person. I watched her work all last summer to be able to afford her car, and it breaks my heart to see that she lost something she worked so hard for. If there's anyone who deserves justice, even in the freedom of having a car, it's Kambrie. Her resilience and strength throughout this horrible situation has been truly inspiring.
Kambrie is hoping to be able to purchase a car that will last her through college in the coming years, as she is set to graduate next spring. Kambrie is constantly using her voice to speak up for others, I hope that this platform will be a way that we can speak up for her. Any donations would mean the world to her and would make the difference in her recovery and healing process.
UPDATE: We reached our original goal, we are beyond grateful. We chose to raise the goal together because Kambrie is now looking into legal fees because of newly brought up information. She is also hoping for a nicer car, whatever you can donate is wonderful.
Side note: Thank you all so much for the help, this truly means the world to me.
