Help Get Jan Home by Making it Accessible

UPDATE:
Thank you everyone for your amazing support! Your thoughts and generosity are incredible, from offering to bring a hammer and build the ramps, gift baskets, flowers, getting firewood, visiting Jan in the hospital to lift her spirits and contributing to the gofundme!

Oncologists have confirmed that mom has T-Cell Lymphoma, although a rare cancer it is treatable. She will start chemo on Tuesday and will have treatments every 21 days for 6 rounds. Physio will continue during the days that she is recovering from chemo. It is going to be a challenging road ahead for her. She will most likely remain in the hospital until mid to end of November provided physio goes as planned. After that she will go home and travel back for her chemo treatments.

Thanks again.

Dear Friends & Family of Jan Boys

We are asking our amazing family and friends for support to rally together for Jan to help get her back home.

Three weeks ago (seems so much longer), my dad (Bob) took my mom into emergency for a pain in her stomach. They admitted her into the Prince George hospital and within 5 days she had 3 blood clots removed from her leg and a biopsy on a lymph node in her neck. The clots caused permanent damage to the nerves in her right foot and shin and unfortunately had to be amputated above the knee. If that wasn’t enough for her to deal with, preliminary biopsy results show that my mom has a form of Lymphoma.

As you may know, my mom, passionate about helping others, was with Victim Services with the RCMP for 14 years. In the last couple years of her career with VS, she developed PTSD, this led to a move to a beautiful little property outside of Vanderhoof to live off grid. Jan turned 66 in August and would have worked until she was 80 if she could. She was driving tractor and bailing hay for a local rancher up until the week before she went into emergency. She hunts, fishes, gardens, preserves their own food, quads, canoes and loves to repurpose furniture and antiques.

While we are hopeful that mom can adapt to a prosthetic leg, she has a long road of chemo and physio ahead of her and will need to use a wheelchair while she heals. Donations of any kind are sincerely appreciated and will go directly toward Jan’s treatment, physio, chemo in PG (2 hour drive each way) and modifications to their home to make it safe and accessible for her with; wheel chair ramps, chair lift, widening doors and entry ways and modifications to the bathroom / bedroom etc.

If you know Jan, you know she is VERY strong, and we are certain she is going to kick ass in her new prosthesis and become cancer free!!
