My name is Izzy and I’m a strongwoman athlete from Dundee, Scotland. I’ve been invited to compete at OSG Worlds five times now, and every single time I’ve had to turn the opportunity down because I simply couldn’t afford to get there.

Yesterday I made the decision that this time, I want to try.

I already have my invite. The opportunity is there. And the truth is, I don’t know if I’ll get another one next year, so I don’t want to look back and wish I’d at least tried to make it happen.

I need to raise around £3,000 to cover the costs of getting to Worlds, including travel, accommodation, competition fees, baggage/equipment, transfers and the general costs that come with travelling abroad to compete.

Strongwoman has given me some absolutely incredible experiences over the years. I’ve competed nationally and internationally, broken Scottish records, stood on some brilliant stages and somehow kept coming back for more stupidly heavy things to lift But Worlds is the one opportunity I’ve never been able to take.

The last couple of years haven’t exactly been straightforward either. My health has changed massively and training and competing now looks very different for me. There are weeks where I can barely train at all, and I’ve had to learn to work with what my body gives me rather than what I think it should be able to do. Somehow, I’m still here, still lifting stupidly heavy things and still getting invited to compete on these stages That’s a massive part of why Worlds means so much to me now. I genuinely don’t know what next year will look like, and I don’t want to keep putting this opportunity off waiting for the “perfect” time.

I know £3,000 is a huge amount of money and I don’t expect anyone to magically fund the whole thing. Every donation, no matter how small, genuinely gets me a little closer. And if you can’t donate, even sharing this would mean a lot.

I’ve spent years saying “maybe one day.”

I think it’s time I actually gave that one day a proper shot. ❤️
