Hi my name is Oonagh, I am Hubert’s mother in law(Áines Mum).

If you don’t know Hubert he is a dedicated father to Caoimhe and Caolán and partner to Áine He is a hard worker and an overall great person.

Hubert became very unwell in September 2025 which ultimately left him on life support in ICU in Galway University Hospital for weeks. It took the team weeks to come to a ‘diagnosis’ of Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis.

Following 14 weeks in UCHG Hubert’s rehab journey began. Initially in Merlin Park and now in the NRH in Dun Laoghaire where he is at the moment. His rehab is going well, but unfortunately Hubert remains without the use of his legs. Ultimately we don’t know what the future holds and what function will return.

Hubert’s discharge date is set for May 2026, at the moment their current accommodation is not fit for wheelchair purpose.

I am asking you to help support this young family through this horrific time, help Hubert come home- give him a place he can be reunited with his children. His 1 year old son has currently lived longer without him than with him.

Help him support his family.

Help Hubert get the physio and care he needs and the adaptations necessary to allow him to live a full life.

What are we fundraising for ? To try purchase/build suitable accommodation for Hubert to return too and be with his family!
