First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read this. I am in a position that no young adult should ever be in. Recently, life has taken a turn for the worst, and my physical well-being is now in danger more than ever. After being in a domestic violence situation for over six years, I am finally breaking free, but not without hardships and hurdles. I need your help, desperately.
Due sever safety concerns, I am having to keep my personal identity confidential. I have tried several times to leave and have contacted Interact, but my attacker has always been one step further. Because of this, it has taken me some time to gather my ducks and get everything documented with a lawyer. Likewise, Interact is very limited with their physical acts of helping due to the current pandemic. I am currently trying to file for a domestic violence protective order, which will grant me safety from my attacker. However, in the current state of this pandemic, court cases are not being held and my case will most likely not be held until September or October. For years my attacker has physically, mentally, and emotionally abused me which has killed my natural spirit and love of life. I have physical proof of all of this and have submitted it to my lawyer. My lawyer has agreed to attempt to file without the case being held in court. This will cost an additional $2,000 to the original $15,000. An order like this will automatically place him in jail if he comes within 1,500 feet of me. Because I have had multiple hospitalizations caused by his physical abuse, I need this.
I have found an apartment and will be moving in within the next couple months. Due to the controlling nature of my attacker, I need to make sure I am not being followed. My lawyer has instructed me to hire a private investigator until my protective order gets put in place and becomes finalized. For this to happen, I need to pay 1,125$ to hire the private investigator to follow both myself and my attacker to make sure he is not following me, trying to cross paths with me, or showing up to my place of employment. Similarly, I need to pay $1,000 as a deposit plus my rent of $980. The deposit includes my move-in charge, pet charge, and to set up WiFi which will also include a security system.
I am employed, but only get paid once a month and the next check will not be in untill the end of August. I have worked very hard over the last six months for this moment and was not expecting these expenses. This relationship has drained me of all my savings and funds to date. I am starting out with only 365$ to my name. I would not be asking if I didn’t need the help.
Aside from these expenses, I have relied on my attacker to fund my therapy, medical expenses, car payment, and everyday expenses such as gas and food. He also has access to my bank accounts, which will also be changed to a new bank. To further my protection, I will also be paying for a new phone and number.
The reason why I need to leave immediately is because of a recent physical attack on me. In this attack, I was given a neck injury that may require further medical attention and an injury to my right hip that needs physical therapy three days a week.
I have done all that I can to make this move quietly and quickly. I have already moved to a safe location and I am waiting for the green light to move into the next phase. Please help me if you can.
