Help Get "Felony" To Texas!
Hello All!
My name is Marissa Casamento, and I am Brian Casamento's daughter. It is with a heavy heart and much trepidation that I make this post.
My dad has had a tough life. He has overcome what some consider impossible. After retiring from the Greene County Sheriffs Department (Deputy Sherrif), my father's health rapidly declined. He was diagnosed with a horrible disease and recently dementia. He does not recognize most people now. This is something that no one should ever have to go through or any family should have to witness. The condition has slowly, but now entirely taken over his life, along with the diagnosis of end-stage renal failure. My father can no longer care for himself nor his hunting dogs who were his entire world.
Magic Merlin will stay with our family, but it is with sadness that I find the only option for Felony and Sara is rehoming.
"Felony" named after my father's first Setter (pictured), "Felon", is an absolute sweetheart. She has found a furever home in Texas very quickly! We just need to figure out how to get her there, and update her vaccinations so that she’s good to travel.
“Sara” a Brittany Spaniel rescued by my dad from somewhere in South Texas is also a sweetheart and has a potential new home here in NY. She, too, needs updated on yearly vaccines and preventive care.
In order for Felony to live out her days in a beautiful hunting home in Texas, and Sara to live out her days in NY, we need some assistance. Whether it is money for vet care or transportation for Felony’s move to Texas, anything would be helpful. If there is someone out there that has travel plans toward Texas or Minnesota from New York, or even if you’re only going part-way, we might be able to create a chain of individuals that could be a part of the whole endeavor.
We as a family are devastated, and need just a bit of financial help to make these things happen. It is unlike our family to ever ask for anything so we are just trying to work out what’s best for the dogs.
We also believe our father has reached and touched many people in the bird dog world. We want his bird dog legacy to live on when he is no longer with us. We appreciate everyone's contributions towards this more than you could ever imagine.
Thank you,
Marissa Casamento
