My name is Alaa, I am 27 years old and located in Oakland, CA. I am an ELO instructor at an elementary school and I am a cat lover! I've had cats all my life.

I am creating this GoFundMe because on Thursday, July 3rd, my 1-year-old cat, Nahmi, ran up a palm tree in our courtyard because she was frightened by a noise as we were trying to adjust her in her carrier. She has been up there for about 5 days now and unfortunately, local fire departments here in Oakland do not provide cat rescues, nor do local animal control or shelters. I have reached out to many local tree services and arborists who may have the equipment to get on a palm tree that is at least over 40ft tall, but the cheapest quote I have received is no less than $500.

If you're an animal lover like me, I'm sure you can imagine my devastation. As an educator, it is currently summertime and I cannot afford a quote that high. I am trying to exhaust all options, I can't give up on trying to get Nahmi down from that tree and back home safely.
