Help get Erika home to her family!!

UPDATE (1/6/20) Friends and friends of friends, Your generosity has been overwhelming to Erika and her family. I spoke with her husband earlier today to find out how soon she can fly home, and they are just waiting on lab results to determine whether or not she needs a blood transfusion before travel. If not, she can leave as early as Tuesday or Wednesday (this week!!). During my conversation with Erika’s husband, I learned that doctors are saying she will not be able to travel in the upright position for such an extended flight. So her family will need to purchase a business class seat so that she can lie down during travel as she is at an advanced risk of blood clots and seizures. (The cancer is throughout her body, including her spine.) Additionally, although doctors aren’t able to treat her further, Erika wants to continue to fight through alternative methods - herbal medicines, as soon as she gets to Indonesia. To help with these additional expenses, I have decided to increase our overall goal. With Brandon (Erika’s husband) having to take a lot of unpaid leave, and all of the travel and medical expenses as well as expenses when they get to Indonesia, the more we can gift them financially, the less they will have weighing on them during this time when all of their focus should just be on Erika and her comfort. Thank you for all of the wonderful donations that have come in! Please keep them coming. Please share and get the word out to as many as we can. I have learned just how loving people are in these past couple of days and would love to see us be able to give Erika our continued gifts of taking financial burdens and stresses off of her and her family’s shoulders. ORIGINAL POST (1/4/20) Dear friends, 

I had the privilege of being Erika Susanti Dove’s roommate for four years while living in Kuwait and working for Kuwait Airways. Erika was the “mama bear“ for the Indonesian KWI airways crew. She was a beloved friend and colleague to us all, and now she needs OUR support and help more than ever. 

In 2017, Erika and her husband Brandon were trying to start the IVF process to build their own family when doctors discovered she had cancer. All plans to start a family were put on hold so that Erika could put all her energy into battling cancer. She has done all of the treatments her doctors suggested and it is not helping. The cancer has become more aggressive and spread throughout her body. Doctors have no further treatments they feel will work. They have advised Erika to surround herself with as much support as she can and live out the rest of her life surrounded by them. 

Brandon and his family have been at Erika’s side the entire time, and Erika has remained incredibly positive going through the roughest time of her life. But what Erika needs now is to be with her family back home in Indonesia. Because of all of her treatments, she hasn’t been able to go home and see her family since this all began three years ago. Time is of the essence, and ideally, Erika would like to get home in a matter of days. 

Brandon and his mom will be traveling with Erika to Indonesia, but travel expenses will be monumental, especially with such an immediate departure needed. PLEASE help Erika and her US family get her home to Indonesia so that she can be with her Indo family. She needs us now and any support you give will help her more than you know!
