Help Get Emily and Rivers to a Safe Home

Donation protected
***UPDATE***

We got the mold results back and her home is infested with the worst mold you can have. The type to cause serious health issues.

Because of this, she has to get rid of nearly all her belongings, so we have raised the donation goal.

We are also looking for clothing donations, furniture, etc. DM me on instagram (sabrinajballard) if you have any leads.

If you would like to buy them something from their amazon wishlist for their new place here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1708PNVKFVLMT?ref_=wl_share

Thank you thank you THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed and shared this gofundme. We couldn’t do this without you all. Thank you so much. You all are what makes this community what it is. Greenville, we love ya.

Hi friends,

This is Sabrina, Emily’s best friend. She has been put in a very unfortunate situation where she is being forced to leave an unsafe living environment and move into a new home ASAP.

If you’re reading this and don’t know Emily, here’s what you need to know about her. She is a badass single mom to an almost 5-year-old little boy named Rivers. She is deeply involved and loved by the individuals who make up this beautiful Greenville community. She has poured so much of herself into the people of this town and now, she is in need of support.

Emily has been living in a poorly maintained and insulated home for 4 years, the effects of which have been exacerbated by Hurricane Helene. The hurricane caused major damage to her home, including water damage, mold, and further damage to the infrastructure of the house. This has resulted in a $900 energy bill on top of the exponentially high utility bills she has been paying due to the lack of insulation in the home.

Her landlord has refused to cooperate and repair these damages, and has even said herself, “The house isn’t worth fixing.” Needless to say, we are trying to get her out of this house ASAP.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances, this comes with a lot of unforeseen expenses. On top of the $900 utility bill, she also needs funds for an apartment application fee, security deposit, first month’s rent, lawyer fees to sue her landlord, as well as her current rent and expenses.

As her best friend, if I had the means to cover these expenses for her myself and not have to ask anyone else for help, I would. But unfortunately, I am not in that place, so I am turning to our community. I know it’s the holiday season and things are tight, but if anyone can spare some funds to help her get out of this situation, we would be so grateful.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance to anyone who chooses to donate. It means the world to us.
