Hi There,
My name is Rhys, I am reaching out to anyone who may be able to help me in my current predicament.
In June this year, my mother who is 65, travelled to Sydney for a family matter. Unfortunately, like so many, she became stuck in NSW due to the border closures.
Due to the family matter, my Mum was unable to stay at family residence in NSW. She was hospitalised in October. When my Mum was released from hospital, it seemed divine intervention took place as a Salvation Army officer asked her if she needed assistance. The Salvation Army have been wonderful, and were able to find accomodation for my Mum. However, the accomodation is now ending due to lack of funds.
This means my Mum is now on the verge of not having a roof over her head until she is able to return to QLD hopefully when the state opens up at 80% vaccination. I have put in for exemption for my Mum on the 01/09/21 however, as my Mum resides in a nursing home she is unable to return to do home quarantine.
So, some background info on my Mum. Just over 8 years ago, my Mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour, she survived the surgery in having the tumour removed, however it bought with it after, a plethora of further medical conditions. 18 months after her brain tumour was removed, she was then diagnosed with breast cancer. Again, my Mum survived this, and with what already was a plethora of medical conditions continued to grow. My Mum has been a sole parent since I was aged 4. My Mum has been a fiercely independent person and rarely asks for anything.
I have been an independent man since 18, and I have been my mothers carer for the past 8 years. Throughout all this time, I have felt honoured I have been able to take care of my Mum, however, the current predicament of having the funds to keep her safe until she is able to return home is not within my financial capacity. It is the most hopeless and fearful feeling to even be writing this to ask for community support. I am needing to arrange suitable accomodation for her and her conditions from the 12/11/21 to... potentially the 17/12/2021 and based on all my research, I am needing around the $5000 to cover her accomodation costs during this period. Of course I will do everything in my power to contribute myself.
I am most grateful for any support during this challenging and what feels impossible time
I am very grateful for any donation to support my Mum during this time.
