Hi everyone! We're at it again!
Just as a brief intro... for those of you that are not familiar, Drag & Draw launched in Feb 2018 by Adrian Colwell and Ailbhe O'Connor after identifying the need for arts-based social opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. With both founders valuing the power of the arts as a platform connection, the idea for Drag & Draw quickly emerged!
Our initial event was hosted in Street 66, Dublin 2... an amazing and inclusive queer space who have supported us since its inception.
Since then we have hosted the event across Ireland (and more recently the world!) taken it online during the COVID years, collaborated with various arts organisations and initiatives and hosted international queens from Ru Paul's Drag Race.
In 2023 and 2024, we had the amazing experience of hosting our sessions as part of the Underbelly programme in and now we're coming back in a new location for 2025! We will be hosting the sessions for a 3-day run from the 11th - 13th of August in the Assembly George Square Studios!
It's STILL a pricey affair. We've done loads to reduce costs. We've done a lot of work contacting nice people who want to support artists with reduced accomm rates, we're working with creatives based in Edinburgh and the lovely Rob has been storing our art supplies for a whole year so we don't have to keep buying new stuff. But it's STILL a pricey affaire and we need some extra funds to cover costs!
If you've ever enjoyed one of our sessions, please consider dropping us a few quid to help us reach this goal!
Also, if you are in Edinburgh during that time, please do come along and say hey!
All donations are mega appreciated!
Thanks, loads,
