Hi my name is Pam and I’m fundraising as our beautiful friends Dr Gary and his beautiful husband Nurse Nate need our help!

Dr Gary and Nate are in Mexico City with their tiny daughter darling Rosie - Rosie was born on the 24th October via a surrogate Mum and the family were due to return home late December here to our little community!

Our friends have used a legal reputable company and attorney for the whole surrogacy experience and have found themselves caught up in a legal glitch nightmare of navigating an archaic law that is preventing them from leaving Mexico City, thousands of couples use this surrogacy system and have never had a problem

After a baby is born via surrogacy, a legal process occurs by which the parents (in this case, her two dads) are put on the birth certificate. This legal process sometimes comes with a rarely enforced travel ban.

For some reason the travel ban has been imposed and although this process has cost the family so far approximately AUD $200,000 - Dr Gary and Nate have run out of funds after having to spend their last chunk of money on Attorneys to sort this out!

Living in a foreign city, navigating being stuck there, having to find housing and neither of them being able to work has come at a toll - extended family has helped and now we are asking for our little community to help!

At this stage it is looking like our friends will be able to leave mid February (please keep all fingers and toes crossed that this can happen safely)

We all know how much these two epic humans do for our community, if you can afford to donate please do so know that asking for help has come at an emergency level for both Dr Gary and Nate - help them out to get them home and we can all show our love and gratitude for them in person

Hey Fam,

This is so hard but thank you!

Right now, everything is in limbo. Gary was supposed to return to full-time work at Ochre & the Hospital in January.

All we want is for our legal issues to be resolved so we can safely (and legally) return to our beautiful home in St Helens.

It’s taken us over a month to say yes to Pam setting up a GoFundMe. We hate asking for any kind of help because we have always worked hard to provide for ourselves.

We are just really struggling at the moment and really just want to be home.

Rosie is wonderful and we can’t wait to share our community with her.
