Help get "Cold and Sara" Festival Ready!

Hi friends and family!

As many of you know, I recently shot and edited the first short film I will ever be entering into the festival circuit.

"Cold and Sara" follows the story of Emmy, played by the ever-talented Sophia Power as she grapples with being home for the weekend from college for her best friend's funeral. Over the span of a 12 minute interaction, sisters who usually share all their feelings with each other, navigate a new playing field as obstacles abound and cause miscommunications galore.

After years of shooting ultra-low budget short films with my best friends in fun and creative ways, it was exhilarating to save $10,000.00 of my own money to take this short film to the next level. Although still considered low budget by production standards, it was a huge step in investing in myself and my art. I put it toward getting a stellar crew together and using top notch equipment to bring this story very close to my heart to life- with just myself and my sister as actors nonetheless!

Now I just need a little bit of help getting over the finish line. Here is the budget breakdown of what I am looking for:

1. Sound design: $2,500.00

Sound will be potentially the #1 factor in bringing all the tension needed to life for my short, and as any filmmaker will tell you, sound completely makes or breaks a project. My film instructor told me that it is more forgivable to have a light stand in the background of one of your shots than for your sound design to be unprofessional.

2. Color: $500

Your favorite movie stills wouldn't be what they are without the pure magic that a colorist can bring to a movie. This is the step where your film really starts feeling like your own, as you design the color palette and bring home the full aesthetic of a project.

3. Film Festivals: $2,000.00

On average, a film festival costs $60 to apply to. And when you want to give your film a fighting chance, that means a lot of film submission costs to a lot of places. That ends up adding up quick!
