Help Get Char Home

Donation protected

Hi my name is Megan I am Charlene’s daughter. My mom was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) when I was 2 years old. 12 years ago my mom was moved into a skilled nursing and rehab because her needs had changed and so did things at home. Over the years my mom made many friends and was taken care of wonderfully. Ever since Covid the level of care that is acceptable to the state, has resulted in my moms MS progressing at a higher rate than it ever has due to being forced to stay in bed, and not receiving her daily stretches due to lack of staff. Since then we have had more concern with the care, or lack there of, that she, has been receiving. Which all came to a head last Thursday Sept 12th. My mom was 911’d to the emergency room. By Saturday morning she was in the OR for surgery and unfortunately got as close to death as I think anyone can. Her blood pressure dropped all the way down to 37 and she became unresponsive. She was sent back to the OR to look for internal bleeding which they found and corrected. She spent 4 days in the critical care unit. During this time we have asked that this be investigated as a neglect and lack of care case on my moms behalf. We have refused she return to the skilled nursing home she was at prior to this and are trying to move her to a skilled nursing facility closer to me while we make arrangements to move her home. Currently there are no beds available to accept her so we have changed our focus to getting home set up now. Which is why we need help. Insurance helps with some of what she will need at home and her disability check basically covers her food for a month. We need to raise money to get what she needs to move here immediately which include an adjustable bed or hospital bed, hoyer lift and slings, incontinence supplies and money to pay for transport to her doctor appointments back in Walnut Creek while we transition everything to Napa.

It has been my life’s dream and goal to get her back home and in my care and I never thought she would have to get so close to dying in order for that to happen.

My mom is still in the hospital and is expected to be discharged by early next week, so whatever you can help if even if it’s just a share or a couple dollars, it means everything to my family and I but especially my mom.
