Hello everyone! I appreciate you for even taking the time to click on this link and give this a read!
My name is Bryson Badeau, and I am currently raising money to put towards a down-payment on a car.
On September 5th, I was stopped at a red light when I was rear ended. My car was pushed up into the car in front of it, and the car that hit me swerved into the other lane and hit another car in the process of stopping. My car took the most damage and was deemed a total loss. The image below is the worst of the damage of my car, and because my car was hit on the same side as my gas tank, they could not repair it. Thus, the beginning of my car hunt began.
After this accident, I was told that the other person's insurance would cover the cost of a rental car. I went out and got a rental - that I had to pay out of pocket for and STILL have not received compensation for - that cost me over $2,000 to have for a month.
I began the hunt for a new car, and came across a beautiful 2020 Kia Forte that I loved and could afford. I put every cent that I had (the total loss settlement from my previous car, all of my savings, and that week's check) into a downpayment on this car, knowing that once I made the downpayment I would be able to afford the monthly payments. Two months after my first accident, I had secured a car and thought the nightmare was over.
On November 15th, I was pulling out of the school that I teach at when I was hit AGAIN by ANOTHER car. I stopped at the stop sign to turn left onto the road, looked to my left, looked to my right, then looked to my left again to make sure no one was coming. There was a line of parents either waiting to pick up their kid(s) or waiting to leave with their kid(s) that started behind my car, wrapped all the way around the parking lot of the school, and led back out onto the street. The image below shows the line of cars that were completely blocking the view that I had of the road, and the view that the other driver had of me. The image does not show the line of cars that were behind me waiting to get out, but it shows the severity of the blindspot that occurs because of the car backup. When a car is coming down that street fast, it is nearly impossible to see through the line of cars.
She came around the curve that was just beyond the line of cars as I was checking my right side, and was going fast enough that she was then blocked by the line of cars when I looked to the left again before pulling out. I started to slowly pull out and she hit the front headlight of the driver's side of my car. All of my airbags went off in my car, giving me some pretty bad whiplash and some resulting neck and back issues, but otherwise (thankfully) I came out of the accident with minimal injuries. My car did not sustain the same fate.
Thankfully, I had better insurance on the car this time around, and they offered to cover a rental for $30 a day up to 30 days. That ended on Saturday 12/16, and since then I have not had a car. I have been staying in Portsmouth (my apartment with my cat Doodle is in Newmarket, but I have a friend watching her while I can't be there) in order to walk to and from work, but this has caused me to pause all other jobs I have at the moment because of a lack of transportation. I work multiple jobs in order to pay all of my bills each month, and I'm worried about how not working each job will impact my ability to pay my bills this month into next.
I have been struggling to find a lawyer who will take my case, and these accidents have both caused me to miss quite some work. I have multiple jobs that I work, and between injuries from the accidents and lack of transportation as a result of not having a car, there were several days of work that I had to miss or call out of. One of the jobs that I have even laid me off for the rest of the year for not having transportation to get there, which is a whole other issue. I'm working paycheck to paycheck just to pay bills on time, and I don't have the means to put ANOTHER downpayment on ANOTHER car.
I hate to ask for help or assistance - I've always been the kind of person who wants to figure everything out on my own so that I'm not an inconvenience. But, I'm at the end of my rope on this saga, and am hoping beyond hope that this will be the turn of events for me. I am hoping to get an SUV to change my luck and put me a little higher above the ground, but any and every cent that I can raise will go towards a downpayment on a car.
I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read my story. It has been a really difficult struggle, but I'm still keeping my head up and staying positive! Thank you all for ALL of your support, love, and kindness <3
