Help get Barb home

If you are lucky enough to know Barb, you know she is the funniest, the most loving, kind-hearted person you have ever met. She is the type of person who always has something nice to say about you (even if you call her out on bullshit lol), she can make you laugh without even trying, and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. It is our turn to give back to her. Barb fell ill while on vacation in Mexico. She is at a facility not equipped to handle her and her extreme critical condition. She is knocking on death's door down there and we need to get her here to the states. The family has paid for a medivac plane to evacuate her and fly her back to the states so she can get the care she needs. Hopefully, all goes well and she can come home soon! However, the cost of this and the exaggerated bill the "hospital" charged are racking up bills upwards of $45,000! Please consider giving anything you can to get Barb and help ease the family's money burden!
Thank you! - here is the most recent update from one of her daughters
Mom update:
I don’t even know where to begin this post. I sit here tonight sad, exhausted, scared, confused, let down, failed, grateful, anxiety ridden, uncertain and frustrated. Yep it’s that complex.
Today started Mom got a little rest but wasn’t feeling great. She had an early morning breathing treatment, the treatment made her sick. Vomiting sick. She was certain something changed. Dad inquired with the doctors and they had in fact upped her meds without letting anyone know. Not a good move. She continued to vomit throughout the day. She was getting increasing weak, scared and worried. At one point she told me on the phone that she loved me, she has always been proud of me and she didn’t think she would see me again. It was horrible. The last thing I said to her was, “Mom I love you, I need you to keep fighting!”
The hospital said she needed another surgery as they believed her blockage was back. They said all day they were getting prepared to put an NG tube down her throat. That never happened.
While all this was happening, we collectively as a family decided it was best to get the AirMed flight finalized. We found a company that could get her out, today, but they called back and their plane had been grounded with mechanical issues. Jodi and I continued to call places. We got a hold of someone at AirMed, he asked if I was from Omaha. I said, I was. He said he was born and raised in Omaha, but now lives in Alabama. His name was Darren. Darren ended up being the angel I needed. I explained to him the situation and told him I needed my Mom out ASAP. We have worked all day to finalize the flight. Good news is we will have her out of Mexico by tomorrow afternoon.
One of the things needed to transport internationally is medical records from the treating facility. AirMed’s medical director called me and had a translator on the line. We called the hospital where my Mom has been staying (lxchel Hospital in Playa) had the translator request the medical records telling them we would be moving her tomorrow to the US. They hung up on us and went into Mom’s room shut off her oxygen and monitors. My brother rushed down there and they demanded payment. We had arranged for an ambulance from CostaMed Just up the street to take her to their facility. They would not release her. My brother stayed calm and paid them. They doubled the bill and made him pay prior to releasing Mom. We got her moved tonight. Mom was scared, worried and still in pain. We kept apologizing to her for moving her. But she’s in a better facility now. For that I’m grateful.
We have a medical jet getting her tomorrow and hopefully by tomorrow night she will be in Miami getting exceptional medical care.
Just hope she can hang on a bit longer.
Mom, just know we are trying. We are trying our very best to get you home.
