Update 7/19, 10:56: Alfie's doing great. He started antibiotics and steroids last night, and when we woke up his neck swelling had gone down A LOT. He got a second bath, because he was still a little smelly. But he's in high spirits, and I'm very optimistic about his progress! We'll go back next Friday for a recheck and vaccinations.
Update 7/18, 18:45: Added pics of two vet bills thus far. The first one was for the physical exam, antibiotics, and steroids. The second one is a deworming med I had to order online. The vet total thus far is $404.75, which I paid out of pocket. I will be very transparent with where the money goes. He will still have bills coming up next week or the weeks after. If you're able to donate, please do. He is currently safe in my home.
If you'd rather do Venmo or cash app, my handle on both is @nlworlow. If you'd rather donate directly to the vet, you can do so by calling The Pet Hospitals Midtown (in Memphis). Their address is 2651 Union Ave Extended, Memphis, TN 38112. (It won't let me add their phone number.) He would be listed under Stray Worlow or Alfie Worlow.
Update 7/18, 16:28: The vet thinks he has strangles, which is a bacterial infection that is treatable with antibiotics and steroids. He wasn't able to get vaccinated today because he has a lot going on, and they didn't want to risk a reaction. I gave him a bath and am looking for someone to keep him until Thursday, since I'm headed out of town Sunday at 6am.
This is Alfie. He wandered up to my house today with a very swollen neck. I'm willing to adopt him, but I need help with initial medical expenses. We're at the vet right now waiting to be seen. Will update ASAP.
