Hello Everyone!
This is Ahzunea Mondragon-Lyday, she is a 22-month-old who has Costello syndrome, which is a rare genetic condition that affects growth, development, and multiple body systems, often requiring extensive medical care and long-term support. Our daughter is a warrior. She spent her first seven months of life in the NICU fighting for her life, and now we face another devastating battle as insurance has denied her stander three times, a device essential to help her one day learn to walk and build strength in her legs. Due to her stature and her petite size, the stander has to be specialized to her height. We got a quote for her measurements, and the customs needed are going to be about 7,000 dollars for her stander. Our insurance denial is due to the insurance government cuts made for children with disabilities that give access to medically necessary equipment for the children’s chance at individual growth, mobility, independence, and quality of life. We've also reached out to her CVRC team and CCS disability coverage, and we are waitlisted for IHSS; all companies continue to not have loaner standers due to her petite size, nor have they had funding to help cover partial or full costs. So we are stuck paying out of pocket. We ask if our community can help us get to our goal to get our baby her stander! Please Donate, Like, Share anything helps! Thank you in advance!!!
