Gerardo Ortiz siempre ha creído en el poder de la alegría. Como mago profesional y creador de Ríe con Gerry, ha dedicado su vida a regalar sonrisas, risas y momentos de asombro a cientos de niños y familias en Guatemala. Con su talento, humor y gran corazón, transformó su pasión por la magia en una forma de vivir—y de hacer feliz a los demás.
El 26 de noviembre de 2022, Gerardo se casó con el amor de su vida, Ana Virginia. Hasta el día de hoy, él lo llama “el día más mágico de mi vida.” Apenas comenzaban esta nueva etapa llena de sueños y amor, cuando la vida les dio un giro inesperado y doloroso: a Gerardo le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon en una etapa agresiva.
Desde entonces, Ana Virginia ha reestructurado por completo su vida para poder cuidarlo—tomando nuevas responsabilidades, acompañándolo a tratamientos, y convirtiéndose en su mayor fuerza. Su amor sigue firme, pero los tratamientos oncológicos en Guatemala tienen un costo emocional y económico muy alto.
Hoy, necesitan de nosotros—amigos, familia y personas de buen corazón—para ayudarles a enfrentar esta batalla.

Gerardo Ortiz has always believed in the power of joy. As a professional magician and the heart behind Ríe con Gerry ("Laugh with Gerry"), he’s spent years bringing smiles, laughter, and wonder to countless children and families across Guatemala. With nothing but his talent, humor, and heart, he turned his passion for magic into a way of living—and giving joy to others.
On November 26, 2022, Gerardo married the love of his life, Ana Virginia. He still calls it "the most magical day of my life." Their love story was just beginning, filled with dreams, laughter, and devotion. But only a short time into their marriage, life took an unexpected and painful turn: Gerardo was diagnosed with aggressive colon cancer.
Since then, Ana Virginia has completely reshaped her life to care for him—taking on new responsibilities, coordinating medical treatments, and becoming his greatest source of strength. While their love remains strong, the emotional and financial toll of cancer treatment in Guatemala is incredibly heavy.
