A Fighter’s Journey

When Gerard was only five years old, his childhood was turned upside down by a diagnosis of rare osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. After months of surgery and treatment, doctors were forced to amputate part of his left leg to save his life.

Despite the pain and challenges, Gerard bravely endured a year of treatment. With resilience beyond his years, he adapted, healed, and returned to the life he loved. For the past year and a half, he has lived joyfully — playing rugby, swimming, hiking, and proving that nothing could hold him back.

But now, tragedy has struck again. Gerard’s health suddenly declined, and doctors delivered devastating news: he has developed therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) — a rare, aggressive leukemia caused by the very treatments that once saved him.

Why We Need Your Help

This time, Gerard’s prognosis is urgent and dire. His treatment will be more intense than anything he has endured before, involving aggressive chemotherapy, prolonged hospital stays, and potentially a bone marrow transplant.
