Help Gerard Donakowski recover from a mid-thigh amputation

Donation protected
My brother, Gerard Donakowski, has suffered a life-changing medical condition that could use your help.

This past summer, Gerard had four surgeries on his left leg that ultimately resulted in a mid-thigh amputation. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him, both physically and mentally.

He is presently confined to a wheelchair and is unable to work. I am reaching out to see if you could provide any financial assistance. This GoFundMe will be used for his medical expenses, loss of work income, and expenses related to daily living now that he is an amputee.

Gerard is a 1983 graduate of the University of Michigan, where he was co-captain of the 1983 Big Ten Championship track team. In 1986 he was the silver medalist in the 10,000 m at the Goodwill games.

He has worked mostly in the running industry as a store manager and sales representative for both Adidas and Nike.

Trying to adapt to life as an amputee is Gerard’s primary focus. While currently in a wheelchair, he is in the beginning stages of being fitted for a prosthetic leg.

Please help as you can, to smooth this transition and get him back on “his feet again” (pun intended).
