Help Gerald Murphy Rebuild

For over four decades, Gerald Murphy has been painting cars in his East Chezzetcook backyard auto body shop that he opened in the mid 1970’s. He supported himself and his family by working hard, persevering and investing his heart and soul in his 45 year business. On October 22, he had to stand by and watch his 45 years of work go up in flames and smoke. His garage, all of his equipment and tools, even his farm tractor that he uses to haul his winter wood, all gone within an hour and a half. A 100% total loss.

Unfortunately the building was not insured and he is now faced with starting over from scratch. He plans to rebuild a small garage in the Spring with enough equipment to get back to doing what he says ‘keeps him going’. He doesn’t want to give up his business and retire, he says he is not ready to stop.

As a small business owner, Gerald’s income has simply stopped and he is not eligible for any benefits like Employment Insurance. His life’s investment was the garage and his tools, so rebuilding will be a financial challenge for him and his family. He is a determined individual and at nearly 70 years old, Gerald is faced with trying to figure out a way to make it happen. He could really use your help.
