Hello everyone,
My name is Geronimo, and I’m reaching out to ask for support for my brother, Gerald Mariano.
At the end of August, Gerald went to the ER after experiencing chest pain. After several tests and a transfer to Memorial Hospital, doctors discovered that he had fluid buildup around his lungs and later diagnosed him with liver cirrhosis. He spent about a week in the hospital, where they were able to drain the fluid and finally give him some relief.
Unfortunately, just two days after returning home, Gerald had to be rushed back to the ER and was admitted into the ICU. Thankfully, he was released on September 10th and is now recovering at home. While we’re so grateful he’s on the mend, he still has a long journey of healing ahead.
Gerald has always been hardworking and independent, but because he was self-employed, he hasn’t been able to return to work — and he currently has no insurance. We’re in the process of applying for patient assistance programs and Medicare/Medicaid, but in the meantime, the bills are piling up.
I want my brother to be able to focus fully on getting better — not on how he’s going to pay for doctor visits, medications, or upcoming specialist appointments. That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Gerald’s medical expenses and ongoing care. Your kindness will help lift some of the financial burden and bring him one step closer to recovery.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read Gerald’s story and for any help you’re able to give — whether it’s donating, sharing this page, or keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. Together, we can make this difficult time a little easier for him and our family.
With gratitude,
Geronimo
