Hi, thank you so much for taking a moment to read Georgie’s story.
Georgie is our dog — and truly the heart of our family. She’s a rescue, though she was never meant to be permanent at first. We were travelling in Canada and agreed to foster her for just two weeks. From the moment we met her, we knew we couldn’t give her back. She arrived extremely malnourished, scared, broken down, and clearly had been through more than any dog deserved in her short little life — but she loved us instantly, and we loved her back.
Two years ago, due to her hip dysplasia Georgie underwent a total hip replacement at to give her a chance at a normal, pain-free life. Sadly, the odds were stacked against her and that surgery has now failed and the hip replacemement is loose. Because Georgie has weak bone density, she needs a complex revision hip replacement completed by a specialist referral practice, using specialised customised parts and techniques to prevent fractures when the new implant is placed. Without this surgery, her condition will only worsen and we are quickly running out of time.
At only 5 years old, Georgie has no real quality of life and is wasting what should be her best years. She can’t play, she can’t go on long walks and adventures, simple things cause her hip so much pain. She's such a happy energetic girl and we just want to be able to bring her spark back.
Watching such a loving, gentle dog struggle every day is heartbreaking — especially knowing that shes already been through so much to try and make her better, and that the surgery she needs would be the answer to giving her life back.
The estimated cost for Georgie’s revision surgery is £14,000. This is partially covered by insurance and our own savings, however there remains a significant shortfall. The fundraising target also helps cover associated costs such as aftercare, rehabilitation, follow-up care, medication, travel, and any unforeseen complications, to give Georgie the best possible chance of a comfortable recovery and good quality of life.
Asking for help like this doesn’t come naturally to us — we’ve never asked for anything in our lives, and even setting this up feels uncomfortable. But every single contribution — no matter how small — will go directly toward helping Georgie get the surgery she needs to walk, play, and live without pain again. Even sharing this fundraiser means more than you know.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, caring, and helping us give Georgie the chance she deserves.
