Federal workers in Georgia are being forced into furloughs — some even in retaliation for speaking up. Many families are already under water, trying to cover rent, groceries, insurance, and college expenses on wages that have never matched the true cost of living in Georgia.

The Reality

Georgia wages have never been in line with the cost of living.

Families are facing $2,000–$2,500 rents, inflated property taxes, and some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country.

College students of furloughed workers are skipping meals, while parents fear eviction notices like the one sent in DeKalb County after only 17 days late.

Workers are trapped — unable to leave because of federal holds and waiting on back pay that won’t erase the overdue bills piling up now.

This is more than a paycheck delay. This is a housing and hunger crisis.
