Georgia is my son's 2-year-old service dog, and she means the world to our family. Recently, Georgia was attacked by a neighborhood dog while out walking with my son. The attack was unprompted—the family opened their door, and a large German Shepherd darted out, injuring both Georgia and my son. Thankfully, they both made a full recovery from that incident, but Georgia's troubles didn't end there.
While camping, Georgia re-injured her leg trying to crawl up a structure to reach my son, resulting in a hard fall. Georgia is the sweetest and smartest pup ever, a cockapoo who has always been there for my son. After the fall, we learned she has a dorsal hip displacement. We spent over $2,000 on x-rays and tried to pop her hip back into place, but it didn't work. The surgery she needs, an FHO, has a high success rate but costs between $6,000 and $7,000. Right now, Georgia is in a lot of pain—her leg hangs from her body, and we have to give her pain medication daily just to keep her comfortable while we figure out how to come up with the funds.
We've visited our vet and two separate animal hospitals, but none are able to offer funding for the surgery. Our pet insurance was already used up from the previous injury, and we weren't approved for CareCredit or other credit programs. We really want to help Georgia, and we're humbling ourselves by asking the public for assistance. Your support would mean everything to us and help Georgia get the surgery she needs to be on her way to recovery. Any help you can provide is deeply appreciated.
