Our family is raising funds to go towards the purchase of/payments for a fully modified wheelchair van for our beautiful daughter, Georgia.
Georgia is 10 years old and formally diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), spastic quadriplegia, and global developmental delays. She is non-verbal and non-ambulatory, and requires a wheelchair for all transportation. As Georgia ages and grows, the need for a wheelchair-accessible van becomes increasingly apparent. Owning such a van will enable us to take Georgia out into the world more easily and more frequently. It will also be less stressful on Georgia’s body (as well as Mom and Dad’s!) as what have at times become tricky transitions to and from car seat and wheelchair will be nonexistent. Additionally, heat is a major trigger for Georgia’s seizures, so having the ability to wheel her directly into a cooled van instead of frantically fumbling a sweaty 10-year-old into a car seat in the hot Virginia summers will be a game changer for our girl!
The cost of a new or gently used, reliable wheelchair van is astronomical, more than any family should have to pay for safe and comfortable transportation for their loved one with a disability. This is why we are humbly asking for your help! Any amount we raise will go directly towards the purchase of and payments for a van for Georgia.
Thank you all for reading our story and to the many of you that have loved and supported Georgia from the beginning. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, coworkers, and beyond!
