Help Georgia Get a Wheelchair-Accessible Van
Donation protected
Our sweet, sassy Georgia finds herself in need of a new wheelchair-accessible vehicle—the second one in less than a year!
Our first accessible van came last March, at the perfect time to bless our family and honor the memory of its previous user. Unfortunately, that van is no longer functioning well, and the cost to repair it is beyond its current value. Additionally, the likelihood of additional future repairs is inevitable due to its age. It served us well for a short time, in all its quirky glory, but it’s time to seek out a less expensive and more permanent option. Rest in pieces, “Great Aunt Ruth.”
That is how we’ve found ourselves here, creating a GoFundMe page. Truth be told, we didn’t want to do it. Asking for help in this way is awkward, and we know that there are so many other worthy causes deserving of your treasures. Unfortunately, wheelchair-accessible conversion vehicles are extremely expensive and often inaccessible financially. We traded in two different cars and put most of our savings towards buying, and then repairing the old van. Starting over is going to be so costly and our time is limited.
However, over the years, so many of you have asked how you can help. At this time, what we need more than anything is safe, reliable transportation for Georgia. She is 4’5” and about 90 pounds, which has made transferring her to a special needs car seat in a regular car impossible and unsafe.
If you feel so called, please consider helping us make this need a reality. If nothing more, please pray that the right vehicle is made available and our next step is made abundantly clear.
We are tremendously blessed by all of the support from our community over the last 9 years. Grateful to do life with you all
