Help Georgia Beat Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Georgia Woods Sears. Everyone knows me to be happy and bubbly with a big, bright smile. If you know me, I have made some kind of impact on your life.
In July of 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My job sent me to the Emergency Room after having chest pains and shortness of breath. This was when I was told that I had lung cancer, even though I never smoked or been around smokers. However, the doctors said that the cancer did not start in my lungs, so they ran a series of tests to try to determine where it started from. I told my husband, “I’m going to beat this cancer…it’s not going to beat me!” Since then, I have been in and out of the emergency room, especially in the beginning.
In August of '23, after being out of work for a month, I did a PET scan. On September 15, while at work, I got a call from the doctor with the results of the PET scan which indicated a hip fracture and was advised to go to the nearest ER immediately! This was my last day at work. Unfortunately, October 22nd would have been my one-year anniversary on the job which would have allowed me to receive benefits. Therefore, I was unable to receive any type of benefits from my job. It hurts just to think or talk about this.
While going through all of this, I also had two close relatives that passed away: a cousin that passed away from breast cancer at a very early age; and an aunt who was like a mother to me and whom I loved dearly. Her name was Pam Woods, a musician and legend who was widely known. Ironically, when she passed, I felt all her pain and was very sick despite not even being sick while doing 9 rounds of chemo. They were able to stabilize me after chemo, therefore I was put on maintenance treatment. However, after 3 rounds of maintenance, the cancer cells came back. Things then got a little tough financially, so I decided to relocate to Orlando.
I’m doing this GoFundMe to get help from family and friends or anyone out there my story may have touched. The proceeds will assist with my growing medical bills and living expenses since I’ve been out of work and not able to maintain a full-time job due to my frequent doctor’s visits for medical care.
