My Aunt Georgeann was recently the victim of a telephone/online financial scam that depleted her entire life savings. While a police report has been filed and the authorities are investigating, there is almost no chance that any of her funds will ever be recovered.

Georgeann is an 80-year-old widow who has worked her entire life and only recently retired due to health problems. Her sole source of income is a social security benefit, which isn't enough to pay for her mortgage, medical expenses, utilities or groceries. She also supports her medically-disabled adult daughter, who is unable to work.

She's embarrassed for falling for this, but more than anything she's frightened by the fact that she no longer has any savings. Our family is starting this GoFundMe, and contributing, to help Georgeann recoup some of her losses and pay for ongoing expenses.

I know that there are many people asking for help during this time of year, so any contribution is greatly appreciated.
