Hi, my name is Angela Satterwhite, and I've had the honor of being close friends with George Sumpter and his family for over 25 years.
George, an 82-year-old widower and longtime resident of Altadena, California, has lived in the city for over 60 years. Tragically, he lost his home in the devastating Eaton Canyon Fire and now faces the heartbreaking reality of starting over with nothing but the clothes on his back.
For more than six decades, George has been a pillar of the Altadena community. A proud United States Air Force veteran, he served his country with honor before dedicating his life to serving his local community. He spent over a decade as an assistant track and field coach at John Muir High School, where he mentored countless young athletes, helping many secure scholarships to pursue higher education. George wasn't just a coach—he was a father figure to many, fostering youth in need and guiding them toward brighter futures.
George has also been a devoted member of the First AME Church of Altadena for over 50 years, always there to offer support, encouragement, and a helping hand to those around him. Now, after giving so much of himself to his community, he needs our help.
We are hopeful that with your generosity, we can raise the funds needed to help George secure safe housing and replace essential items lost in the fire, giving him the stability he deserves during this difficult time.
Please consider donating to help George get back on his feet. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
