I am 76 years old and moved to Scottsdale from New York City about 20 years ago, hoping for a more affordable life. Unfortunately, the cost of living here has also risen far beyond what my social security income can cover. I live independently with my dog Joey, but my health has been declining. Two years ago, I needed spinal surgery, and I am still recovering. I have tried to keep up my piano teaching, but my illness has caused me to lose most of my students. Now, I am facing COPD and need a heart valve replacement. The cost of specialist copays doubled this year, and I am seeing about six specialists, struggling to pay for copays and medical imaging. At this point, I am so short on funds that I may not be able to make my rent and could be evicted, with no family here and nowhere to go. I want to continue living independently, teaching piano, and doing everything medically required to stay alive and relatively healthy. Donations will help me cover medical bills, rent, and pharmacy expenses, allowing me to remain independent and follow medical advice. I'm sorry it has come to this, but I am asking if you can find it in your heart to make any donation, big or small, to help me get through this time. You would quite literally be saving my life. To those few who have helped me in the past, I am deeply grateful.
