Hi, my name is George Elliott-Applegate. One year ago, Ellen, my wife of 24 years, and our three furkids, Maddie, Millie, and Stella, realized a dream of living in Europe. We sold mostly everything and moved to Valencia, Spain to live happily ever after - or so we thought until my health disintegrated.
I lost my colon due to Ulcerative Colitis in 1996 and surgeons created an internal J-pouch so I would have continuity; however, I experienced repeated severe infections until my Crohn's Disease diagnosis in 2017. Since moving to Valencia last year, I've been hospitalized 3x and had surgery, but keep getting worse.
Our Spanish health insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions and we've spent all of our savings on my medical bills. Regular infusions are the only effective treatment at this stage of my disease - which cost over $2,000 twice a month and are not covered by insurance.
In short, it's critical that we move back to the United States as soon as possible before the ulcers, fistulas, and other serious issues get even worse. Those of you who know me, know I've already lost my son and granddaughter. I can't live with losing Maddie, Millie, and Stella because of pet relocation costs, too.
Please donate whatever you can to help us move back so I can receive the medical care I desperately need. We can cover some of the relocation expenses, but need your help. Once I'm back home, Medicare will cover all of my medications and treatments - but I have to get there first.
Thank you for reading this and especially thank you for any donation you make.
