Help George, our beloved sick kitty

Hi, we are the Vaziris and we love our sweet cat, George. George and his brother Ringo came to us when they were tiny kittens through a rescue service that found them without their mother when they were just two weeks old. They have been a happy and healthy addition to our household for the past couple of years. Then last month, out of the blue, George came down with feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) which means that for no known reason his urinary tract gets completely blocked. The only treatment includes a stay at the vet hospital for a few days and a catheter to clear the blockage. If the blockage isn't cleared, he would die in a matter of days. There is no medicine proven to treat this disease. All we can do is make sure he's drinking water, eating a special diet, and not getting stressed. He has now gone to the hospital twice with this issue. Each visit costs at least a few thousand dollars. The first visit was $2,800 and the second visit was more severe so the cost was $5,300. He may have more blockages in the future. While they don't know exactly what causes the blockage, they do think it's related to stress. That may explain why his latest trip to the hospital coincided with his cat daddy's (Parsh's) brain surgery. They were both admitted to the hospital (UCD Vet and UCSF) on the same day.
