Help George Knouf Walk Again for His Family

Donation protected
Hello, my name is George Knouf and I hope you can take a moment to listen to my story.

I was born and still live in Ramallah, West Bank Palestine. I am 43 years old, married and have twin girls, Merrit and Marla that are four years old.

My story started back when I was 4 years old on a school bus. On the way to school my bus driver was in a devastating car accident. My mother and other parents came running to the bus. This is when my mom found my left leg had been cut off by the impact of the crash, as well as my severe burns over various parts of my body.

I spent several years in the hospital treating my leg, the severe burns, and even my organs.

My life changed forever after that accident. I was able to get a prosthetic leg but it wasn’t always the right fit, but it was all we could afford. This caused various infections and issues for me throughout the years as well as difficulties walking. Not to mention the mental and physical pain of it all. I tried my best to live a normal life as much as I could and always tried to keep a positive outlook on life. Through it all I did meet the love my life Hiba.

My life felt like it was finally getting better being a husband to Hiba and then welcoming my twin daughters, Merrit and Marla. About the same time I became a father, things started to take a turn again. My right leg developed a chronic infection. The pain was insufferable. I could no longer walk on my leg. I was in and out of the hospital for treatment. This led me to losing my job and my livelihood to provide for my family. Eventually the infection spread to my bones. The senior doctors at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center decided the best treatment would be to amputate my right leg.

I underwent the surgery of the amputation. I now became a double amputee. My infection is now healed but I was not able to work. Being the main provider of the family I spent most of my savings on daily necessary things.

I am writing today to help me and my family purchase two prosthetic legs from Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center - Ichilov. This would mean I can get back to work and provide for my twin daughters, my wife and my mother and father as well.

All I want in my life is to be able to stand again and provide for my beautiful family.
I am asking for your help to raise $53,000 which would cover my prosthetics. As many of you know we are living in a war zone in the West Bank. The inflation here is making it incredibly difficult for those without any medical issues to make ends meet; can you imagine me.

Note: The cost of the prosthetic limbs, therapy and surgery would be $53,000. Please pray for me and my family during this difficult time, especially my twin girls, because it has greatly affected their mental health and livelihood. I am unable to leave the house and go anywhere with them, even for the simplest things like taking them to the park or school or even to Church on Sundays with the rest of the family.

With your help I cannot only be able to try and walk again, but I can try and provide for my family and give my girls a present involved father as well.

Thank you for whatever you can give and for taking the time to read my story.
