I'm raising funds for my grandfather, George, after he suffered a debilitating stroke that left half his body barely responsive and made him unable to eat without a gastronomy tube. Now he needs constant medical support in an assisted living facility during his slow recovery. George is a loving, supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he has the kind of infectious positivity that spreads his smile to others everywhere he goes, even in his current situation. Having to see my grandparents go through this, and not having the means to offer any meaningful financial support, has been heartbreaking to my whole family. His insurance will not cover the cost of his medical care or the assisted living he now depends on every day. He is also a veteran, but we were devastated to learn that the VA said they weren't going to offer him any assistance. My grandmother is trying to handle everything, but she's in a tight spot. They're looking at needing to take out loans just to pay for one more month of assisted living care, and there's a very real possibility that they might end up losing the house they've lived in for over 50 years, the home their children and grandchildren were raised in, if they don't get some financial relief.
The funds will go directly to my grandmother and be put toward medical expenses and assisted living costs, and if possible, to help pay for physical rehabilitation that should help him eventually be able to walk on his own again. The goal is to raise enough to relieve even a little bit of their burden by covering the cost of around 2-3 months of assisted living care. Any support you can offer would mean the absolute world to our family and would help us keep my grandparents together in their home for as long as possible. Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and considering a donation.
