Hi! I'm George, and I am raising funds for a psychiatric service dog! You may also know me by my first name Hannah--- either name is fine.

As some of you may be aware, I live with disabling c-ptsd. My symptoms interfere with my ability to work consistently as well as navigate public spaces, and unfortunately over time my symptoms have worsened. I am raising funds for a psychiatric service dog to help me function!

A typical day for me usually includes at least one ptsd / panic attack, if not multiple. They can be triggered by any number of things, and these attacks are incredibly disruptive to my life and work--- I deal with selective mutism on my bad days, am easily startled by loud noises and crowds, and certain social situations can lead to panic attacks as well.

A service dog would help me complete everyday tasks I need to function, whether that be working at my desk, going grocery shopping, or attending conventions and other public events. I live alone, and although I currently have a wonderful dog and cat who I love and cherish, they are not service animals and cannot accompany me everywhere I need them, nor are they trained for specialized tasks. A trained companion who could alert me to triggers, be a barrier and guide in overstimulating situations, provide pressure therapy, and engage in diversion tactics when I need them would be life-changing for me.

I have set a goal that reflects the costs of obtaining and training a psychiatric service dog. As I am experienced with dogs and interacting with animals provides me a lot of peace, I plan to train a dog myself with the assistance of a service dog training program in my area. The cost breakdown looks like this:

  • $4000 Cost of dog + temperament testing --- I am in contact with a breeder who breeds labradors specially for their temperament, and has experience providing service dogs for training programs. We will work together to find the right match in a puppy with a suitable temperament for my needs.
  • $3000 Cost of puppy training program --- this initial training will establish the puppy and socialize the dog for the next stage of more advanced training.
  • $4500 Cost of psychiatric service dog training program.

The rest of the money will go towards transportation, veterinary costs, toys, a crate, food, playpen, and various other accessories I may need for training. I will be putting a deposit down within the next few weeks for a litter arriving in 2026, and the rest of this year will be spent fundraising, planning and saving.

Anything you can contribute will be so, so appreciated. If you're unable to donate, sharing the campaign would be wonderful too. Thank you for your time!
