George has STAGE 4 Primary Spinal CNS Large B cell lymphoma and was immediately put into hospice with pain meds galore. It is a rare and very aggressive and the most painful type of cancer according to the doctor due to it being in his central nervous system. Usually, only 2% of cancer patients get this type. He had a fall from just bending over, and of course, was sore the next day. He was off work for two days and then worked two days. On the second evening, he came home from work, sat in the chair, later tried to get up, and could not move his lower body. I got him to the bedroom, and he would not let me call 911. He laid in bed almost a week, eating Tylenol like candy. Finally convinced him to go to the hospital. They did X-rays, CT, MRI. The hospital we went to told us he had broken his back in two places and they didn’t have a doctor to handle him. We transferred to Ruby Memorial where they redid all the tests. His fall did NOT cause the broken back; his back broke and caused the fall. He had two tumors compressing his spinal cord, so emergency surgery to remove tumors. They tried to decompress his spinal cord but could NOT remove the tumors; the cancer is too advanced. He is still paralyzed and will never walk again. His spine is full of lesions and tumors to the point it can never be fixed. The cancer is in his bones, blood, and central nervous system and very aggressive. He has muscle spasms in his legs so bad that he wears special boots so as not to break bones in his feet. It has only been two weeks. It is now starting to affect his hands and arms as of a couple of days ago and will work its way up. I found out that his life insurance will NOT pay out because he hasn’t had coverage long enough. Sandy is going to be left with a ton of bills and funeral expenses. So please, I am asking for help to make the transition a bit easier for Sandy. Anything will help if you can, and if you cannot, your prayers and good vibes are appreciated.
