Help George and Patty MOVE (and stuff)!

George and I faced a LOT of difficulties this winter (losing his mom the week before Christmas, him getting Covid, etc), but you can help ease one of our challenges. The apartment building we've lived in for over twenty years - since before we got married in September 1999 - has been sold and the new owners want everyone out no later than May 31st  so they can gut and rehab the century-plus-old building to put in new wiring, etc. We can't live in a construction zone for the 2.5 months the rehab will take, so we have to move on. The good news is that we found a new place just down the street in Little Italy! The bad news is that the first month's rent and the security deposit ate up over 80% of the money we squirreled away for this occasion. Considering there's no way we could possibly sort through, pack up, and move over twenty years' worth of belongings by the end of March, we plan to stay in our current place until the end of April (and hopefully I'll be vaccinated by then as well). That means we'll be paying for rent and utilities on two apartments for two months. Plus there will be other expenses, like buying dinner for the friends who have volunteered their trucks for the move, and smaller incidentals I haven't thought of (George pointed out we'll need to buy a shower curtain for the first time in over two decades as the place we live in now has a shower stall while the new place has a bathtub). So for the first time in my life, I've created this GoFundMe for $1,100 (I was going to ask for $1,000, but a friend reminded me that GoFundMe takes a cut). [EDIT - I've increased the goal because I thought of other things we'll need. Those particleboard bookshelves might not survive the move. That should cover the additional rent and utilities, plus any other move-related expenses I haven't thought of.
