Hello friends,
I am starting a GoFundMe to help my friend Geo with their debts. Geo has been a friend to so many people and is always willing to go out of their way to help others. Now they need our help!
Last September, Geo was diagnosed with long covid. It has been incredibly debilitating for them. Since then, they have run out of short-term disability insurance, and unfortunately did not have any long-term disability insurance. They also recently were diagnosed with pneumonia and treated for that, and are now undergoing tests to determine if they may have uterine cancer and/or Addison’s Disease on top of everything else. They recently had to leave their role at work because of their illness illness, and are currently trying to work with their organization to get placed in a different role. This process has been long and grueling, and they have not been able to receive income in the last three months. Consequently, their rent is now two months overdue, their phone was turned off, and several bills are overdue. Their drivers license has expired because they don’t have money to get it renewed, and they now do not have car insurance because they could not afford to pay for it. There are not enough resources that exist in Washington County to help with these things.
Everything has been incredibly stressful for them and a little financial assistance would go a long way to easing those stresses
Once their job decides whether or not they can accommodate Geo’s needs with their illness, then they can either begin receiving income again, or they can apply for OHP and then get rental assistance through them. As of right now, they’re in a weird limbo stage where they are just getting no income and cannot do anything about it.
If you happen to be in a place where you are able to donate a few bucks, I know Geo would be incredibly grateful. They have spent the last four years helping people go from homelessness to housing, and now they are at risk of losing their own housing.
I am humbly asking for any help you can give to help Geo stay on their feet while they wait for either their job to find a role that can accommodate their need needs with their illness, or until they can utilize resources through the state which require them to not be employed.
We would be incredibly grateful to you if you are in a place to be able to help!
