Help Genji Our Corgi Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Our family entered 2023 with a lot of uncertainty. We noticed a mass forming on our corgi, Genji before the holidays. We had talked about getting pet insurance for him to help pay for any emergencies in the future; we didn't think we would be experiencing something like this so soon. Genji has been diagnosed with large-cell lymphoma. He's only 4 years old and without treatment, he was given only 6-8 weeks to live. We are devasted.

We brought Genji home in December 2018 from a horse farm in Aiken, SC. Genji is the first dog I've ever had, coming into my life the year my mom passed away, helping heal that hole in my heart. He lived with my husband when he bought his first house, helping make the house feel like home.

Genji is such an active dog. He loves to fetch, swim, and hike. He earned his AKC Puppy Star and AKC Canine Good Citizen certifications, and he is off-leash trained. He's a certified good boy! This year he attended his first baseball game and walked in two holiday parades. Genji also participated in the Steeplechase of Charleston's 1st corgi race (coming in 2nd place).

He's traveled with us across America from Florida to Washington state and even Canada. You would never know he was sick by looking at him. Lately, he's been showing some signs that he is getting sicker. Not running as fast after the ball, not running to eat from his bowl, and breathing heavier than usual. We love our boy Genji so much and we don't want to see this disease take him so soon. We are planning on meeting with a veterinary oncologist soon to see what our options are. With this, fees will incur: vet consult, medication, and travel. We are asking for help in paying for these fees. We are hopeful that pet insurance will kick in, but we are worried that they might consider this a pre-existing condition since he was diagnosed so soon after getting insurance. If you can donate any amount to this cause, we will be so grateful. If you are not able to help financially, please share this GoFundMe with others. Thank you for taking the time to read about Genji and we hope that you will consider helping us in any way. We will post updates here and on his Instagram @ GenjiTheCorgi
